Long · for show notes
Ted Garland Oiler is a father, a veteran and a former military intelligence officer. He has argued about the Second Amendment since a political science lecture hall at The Ohio State University, where, as an ROTC cadet, he wrote the paper that started him down this road: anyone who wanted to seize power in America would have to start by disarming the people.
America Disarmed is the result. The Warning lays out how laws, databases and technology that already exist could be assembled into a disarmament campaign without a single villain or conspiracy. The Witness, a novel, follows one Ohio family through the same three years. Both books stick to one rule: the history is real, and the imagined parts are labeled as imagined.
After the Army, Ted spent thirty years in business. He lives in Central Ohio and writes Resolute Citizen, a free weekly newsletter on the laws, the lists, the money and the people behind them.
What we can talk about
Pick one for a ten-minute segment or run several for an hour.
The filing cabinet, not the tyrant
Why the danger is a list built by decent people, inherited by someone nobody chose.
Nobody has to be evil
How a finished bill, a staffed committee and one terrible week can do what no conspiracy could.
How fast it went, when it went
Australia in 12 days. New Zealand in 26. What those timelines mean here.
Registration, both halves
Registration doesn't cause tyranny. Tyranny requires a disarmed victim. Why both sentences matter.
The Supreme Court, December 2, 2026
Viramontes v. Cook County and what a ruling by June 2027 could change.
Why write a novel too
What a story shows that an argument can't, and what it was like to write both.
- Is this a pro-gun book?
- Isn't this a road map for the other side?
- Is any of it real?
- Why now?
- What surprised you most while writing it?
- What should a regular gun owner do after reading it?
